This was an existing system that was installed improperly. The customer had several other companies out to try to fix a variety of issues that included not enough domestic hot water and low heat in areas of the home. We kept the original boiler and removed all of the existing piping and controls, then piped the boiler properly so the house would heat properly. We also came up with a solution to make sure they always have adequate Domestic Hot Water and made those piping changes. A lot of systems we see and are called on to repair were installed improperly. We repipe and reconfigure systems so the customer will have better comfort in the home and less energy costs heating the home. We take great pride in our installations knowing they are correct and serviceable in the future.
This project was a Daiken Altherma Air to Water Heat Pump installed by another company. After the installation, the customer’s electric bills skyrocketed and the house would not keep up with the heating in the winter time! West Sound Comfort Systems were called in to assess it. After performing a heat loss on the building and determining what kind of water temperatures were needed on the cold days, we were able to design and install the correct piping strategy of the mechanical room. We also added an electric boiler to the system so the house would heat adequately on the colder days of the year. The customers electric bill immediately fell by approximately 50%!

This customer was referred to us by a Boiler Manufacturer. The challenge for this customer was finding someone who could service their system and who understood hydronic heating systems. When we arrived we found that the previous contractor believed the thermostats had failed and replaced them. The previous contractor left and the system never worked again. It turns out the thermostats that were replaced are part of a networking control package. Replacement parts are no longer available nor did the old thermostats get saved for evaluation. After reviewing the system, based on the age and condition of the existing system, we proposed a solution that improved the comfort of the home, and reduced their annual fuel consumption. We completed this project in one work week.
